EDL Walthamstow Demo: 1 September 2012

This Saturday, the EDL will be holding a protest in Walthamstow which had originally been planned to take place in August. Although this will be a national demo, recent attendance figures at such events – such as in Bristol and Dewsbury – have been rather modest compared to those that took place earlier in the protest group’s history. An explanation of why the march will be taking place has been provided in an article by Esmerelda Weatherwax, focusing upon how the borough has become a hotbed for Islamists in recent years, some of the most notable being involved in Anjem Choudary’s numerous differently-named groups consisting for the greater part of the same members articulating the same backward Islamist ideology.

Contrary to the shrill and predictable denunciations of the EDL protest made by the latest Trotskyite front group to spring into existence – ‘We are Waltham Forest’ – as well as formulaic imprecations issued by UAF, the SWP and sundry soi-disant ‘antifascists’, the police adjudge that the EDL march poses no threat of violence. Whether or not they believe that the same can be said of the miscellaneous anti-democratic elements of the Trotskyite and anarchist Left has not been divulged, but judging by past experience, including the recent ‘antifa’ attack upon police in Bristol, violence could well be forthcoming from that quarter. These groups employ the language of ‘anti-racism’ and ‘anti-fascism’ as a means of camouflaging their true intent of subverting public order and fomenting violence, and yet although these facts can be ascertained by anyone who cares to look at the literature that they produce, observe the manner in which they act and listen to the words that they speak, the mass media seem to possess a perplexing blind spot in this regard. Why are their claims, given their serious nature and implications, never subjected to objective scrutiny? The failure of the press, television and radio to investigate the murky world of the violent fringe of the anti-democratic Left, and the willingness of broadcasters and journalists to accept all of its pronouncements at face value, constitutes a baffling mystery. 

Turning to what the opponents of the EDL Walthamstow Demo have written, their true colours are revealed. For example, one article entitled ‘We Are Waltham Forest: residents to confront EDL racists’ appears on a website called Counterfire. This organisation describes itself as follows:

Counterfire is an organisation of revolutionary socialists. We work in the trade unions, student movement, and protest campaigns to link together different struggles, push them forwards, and build resistance to the system.

Counterfire members have played a key role in the Coalition of Resistance, Stop the War, and the student revolt.

Note the term “revolutionary socialists” and how the organisation freely owns that it infiltrates trade unions, student groups and protests to “build resistance to the system”. We live in a democracy where any “socialist” candidate is free to stand for office via the ballot box, and yet these people – “revolutionary socialists” – reject this route, preferring instead the tactics of infiltration and destabilisation, for they realise that in the cold light of day only a tiny minority of people would ever vote for them, so unappealing are their policies and the dystopian vision that they hold dear. They make clear their contempt for democracy and pluralistic thought and declare that their intent is to gradually curtail the compass of what passes for legitimate political debate so that eventually only those adhering to their own “revolutionary socialist” agenda are allowed to articulate their views. Still, history is unfortunately replete with examples where such “revolutionary socialists” have taken power and then violently turned on each other, such is the nature of their chiliastic urge to power in the name of an abstract humanity, the concrete reality of which they despise.

Such a tendency as outlined is clearly at play in the article written by Counterfire writer Charles Brown after he has written off the EDL as a dying force:

But this does not mean that we should downplay the threat posed by the EDL and fascist groups like the BNP and National Front. The scapegoating and scaremongering favoured by these organisations can often be found, in only marginally less virulent form in the right-wing press, and we have seen a ratcheting up of rhetoric against multiculturalism from Cameron and other Tory leaders.

Here we see the tactics of the “revolutionary socialist” Left laid bare: turn on any organisation or anybody who questions their ideological position. Thus, the first focus of their opposition was the National Front followed by the BNP then the EDL. Now that they think that the EDL are on the ropes, attention shifts to the Conservative Party and the “right-wing press” (presumably anything not falling under the control of the “revolutionary socialist” Left?). What are their weapons of choice? Smear, slur and insinuation. “Racist”, “fascist”, “far-right” and “Islamophobe” are just a few of the pejorative labels that they favour and employ with wild abandon, enjoying great success owing to the uncritical receptivity of the mass media, who help them to implement their strategy of: stigmatise, isolate and destroy. The SWP is also happy to whip up an atmosphere of fear with a view to inciting confrontation, hence its recent direction of propaganda towards Walthamstow's Muslim population. This, unfortunately, is one story that you will not see covered in mainstream reporting of the EDL protest in Walthamstow this Saturday.

Newcastle's ‘Rising Against Islamophobia’

As the economic decline of the West continues, and individuals who joined trade unions look to them to protect their jobs and working conditions, many trade union activists dedicate themselves to concerns that are tangential, if not in direct opposition to, the beliefs, desires and interests of rank-and-file members. Thus it is that many union stewards and reps abuse their positions of trust to forward their own militant Leftist agenda. They undermine the job security of indigenous members by actively promoting ever more mass immigration (legal migration, ‘asylum’, recognition of the ‘right’ of illegal immigrants to remain in the country, ‘family reunion’, Turkish accession to the EU, etc) as well as subverting the identity of the country by engaging in a vigorous Kulturkampf which promotes Balkanisation under the heading of ‘diversity’, routinely brand expressions of English identity as ‘racist’ and ‘extremist’, and support the growth of the misogynist, anti-rational Dark Age belief system called Islam.

What I have written above is a statement of fact. I do not believe that there is any room for this to be disputed. That said, I do not for one moment tar all trade unionists with the same brush, and recognise that there are many excellent stewards and reps who do a good job in seeking to defend the interests of their members and do not become involved in the harmful abovementioned activities that are embedded within the official policies of their unions. It is up to people such as these to win back the trade union movement for reason, and to defend the real interests of their members rather than undermining the latter’s economic security and stigmatising their indigenous cultural identity. I call upon decent trade unionists who do not subscribe to erroneous Leftist multiculturalist dogma to make their displeasure known to colleagues about the union-sponsored UAF demonstration promoting Islamisation and supported by the Muslim Defence League (MDL) that will take place in Newcastle on 29 October this year. 

The title of the event itself – Rising Against Islamophobia – is both provocative and designed to promote the myth that objecting to Islamic doctrine and Islamisation is irrational. Indeed, the aim of the organisers is to stamp out independent thought and to impose a totalitarian line: this is the ‘truth’, and if you question it, you are a ‘racist’, ‘fascist’ and ‘far-right’. Even if you are a trade unionist who does not share my particular perspective, you ought to feel distinctly uneasy about the line and tactics of UAF.

Unison appears to be the major union backing the event, but the following campaigns, groups and individuals will also be represented:

How much will this promotion of Islam cost non-Muslim trade union members? This event will after all require funding. At a time when jobs are being lost and services being degraded, why are scarce resources being wasted upon promoting an alien and hostile creed that stands in direct opposition to the values of most ordinary trade unionists? It is time that rank-and-file members awoke to the fact that their movement has been hijacked by Trotskyites intent upon using it for purposes other than what it was established.

The EDL will be holding a counter-protest to this celebration of national self-destruction, cultural masochism and Islamisation. Let us hope that they enjoy a successful and peaceful demonstration, and that ordinary trade unionists are able to win back their movement from the harmful pro-Islamic fanatics who have subverted its noble founding principles.

England: Islamisation steps up a Gear?

Looking at the events of the past fortnight it would seem that an argument could be made for us having reached a turning point with respect to the Islamisation process in England. I put aside the cases of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, for the demographic processes unfolding in these other constituent nations of the United Kingdom are somewhat distinct from those in England, insofar as they are not so far advanced. What England experiences today, the others will within the next decade if current policies are not reversed. The Muslim malady that is so keenly afflicting England thus seems less relevant and pressing elsewhere, where it can to a certain extent be ignored.

In urban England however, the process of Islamisation cannot be ignored, and even some of our smaller towns outside of those situated in the urban belts of Lancashire and Yorkshire where Muslim colonies are well established are now beginning to experience the first symptoms of this disease. Mosques are proliferating as the demographic composition of entire areas changes, and the world of work, particularly in the public sector, becomes increasingly unpleasant as demands for Islamic exceptionalism are articulated through compulsory ‘diversity training’. What the followers of Islam do not understand is this one simple fact: respect can only be earned, it cannot be demanded. Nonetheless, demand it they do.

The SWP, UAF, Hope Against Hate, mainstream politicians and the mass media all chant the same meaningless mantras: Islam is a religion of peace; we are one community; anyone who criticises Islam or claims that a process of Islamisation is underway and that this is not desirable is “racist”, “far-right” and “fascist”. Meaningless verbiage. Utterly vacuous accusations without foundation.

Is Islam a “religion of peace”? Decide for yourself. The history is there to read should you care to consult it; the Qur’an, the hadith and the sunnah are all freely available (not that I’d recommend ploughing through this turgid, tedious inhumane garbage); and there is a cacophony of Islamic voices to which you can listen. There is also the example of current affairs and recent history and Islam’s interaction with other religions, cultures and philosophical systems. To make its way in the world Islam would render the seas incarnadine sooner than ocean green.

My observation that we may be witnessing a turning point in the articulation of Islamism within England rests upon what appears to be a ramping up of Islamist efforts to forward their political agenda in the UK. On a purely propagandist front, the 'Inspired by Mohammed' campaign has been launched in an attempt to persuade non-Muslims that Islam is benign, whilst in the world of street politics there have been fresh developments. A new group, very much in the mould of Islam4UK – Muslims against the Crusades (MAC) – has sprung up, and not only has demonstrated against the Royal Anglian Regiment’s homecoming parade in Barking, but also against the One Law for All demonstration against sharia law in Whitehall less than a week later. On that second date, we also witnessed some members of the EDL turning up to protest against MAC, only for an exclusively Muslim contingent of the UAF to turn up from Tower Hamlets chanting “Allahu akbar!”

On Sunday 20 June we also saw George Galloway and assorted UAF members addressing an almost exclusively Muslim audience, circa 5,000 in number in Tower Hamlets, and appealing to explicitly Muslim sensitivities which gave rise once again to cries of “Allahu akbar!” and spawned both the splinter group that marched on Whitehall and the 300-strong crowd which ran amok in the East End that evening. Significant sections of the Muslim population in England are acquiring a dangerous collective psychology which combines a sense of moral superiority derived from their religious beliefs with a misplaced sense of victimhood, which is a theme constantly articulated by those of a politically correct multiculturalist disposition. Furthermore, their sense of collective belonging rests with the ummah, not with the fellow citizens of the nation where they reside. Many of them see us as the enemy, and they are increasingly telling us that this is what they think of us.

There needs to be a radical change in the thinking of our politicians and mass media which leads to a rejection of Muslim special pleading and says once and for all: your faith is not compatible with our society, either abandon it or leave. It is time for a peaceful parting of the ways, for otherwise I fear that Islamist radicals will launch a wave of attacks against we non-Muslims. They have come to view our land as their land, and the fact that MAC are now flying the black flag of Islamic jihad within our shores, shows that they view themselves as being in a state of war with us as a people and as a political unit. They have started the struggle to wrest control of our homeland from our grasp.

In the following compilation video there is footage additional to that already featured on this blog’s reports into the various demonstrations of the past couple of weeks. Importantly, at about four minutes into the video note the numbers of supporters with MAC for their second protest which was against the One Law for All demonstration. Their numbers were considerably larger than in Barking. It seems that the Trotskyists have been willing to try and harness Islamism for their own cause, but the latter has now taken on its own independent dynamic and instead of chanting “black and white unite” UAF members chant “Allahu akbar!” There could be no more vivid testimony to the reality of the process of Islamisation than this significant shift in rhetoric.
