EDL to Demonstrate in Norwich

An EDL demonstration will be taking place in Norwich today, accompanied by a customary counter-demonstration under the now well-known "We Are" franchise created by the SWP-dominated UAF: We Are Norwich. The demo has apparently been prompted by ‘a decision by the city council, banning a Christian preacher from distributing anti-Islamic“hate-motivated” leaflets from a stall on Hay Hill.’ Given the blanket use and abuse of so-called hate-crime laws when it comes to matters of belief, it is hard to adjudge whether or not the leaflets really were “hate-motivated”, but such an allegation really ought to be taken with a pinch of salt. In all likelihood, he was just proclaiming that Christianity is the true religion, as would be the position of any Christian preacher, and probably highlighting some of the bloody and intolerant aspects of Islamic doctrine.

The ‘preacher’ in question may of course have been one of those ranting types yelling about fire and brimstone and eternal damnation for those who do not follow ‘The Lord’, but such people are best ignored rather than prosecuted. From the little information available, it seems that he is one of those types, and in line with doctrinaire Islam, enjoys inveighing against the evils of homosexuality. There is often little that differentiates literalist Old Testament ‘Christians’ from their doctrinaire Muslim equivalents, with both holding exceptionally objectionable views and making for very bad company.

Norwich, it would seem, does not possess a significant Muslim population, but the city is home to a group that calls itself the ‘Norwich Muslim Community’, which possesses its own website and claims to be some 150 strong (including children). Whereas in the bulk of our towns and cities where such a presence is in evidence the representatives of this faith originate from overseas, in Norwich, the situation is different, with the website claiming that ‘The majority are British-born converts to Islam.’ Those words – ‘British-born converts to Islam’ – always sadden me, for I cannot understand why anyone would wish to freely embrace that faith in particular, when so many others (and none) are available. Why would anyone in the full possession of his or, particularly, her mental faculties who was not of a malicious bent choose to embrace such a doctrine? Perhaps asking such a question is superfluous, for there is a strong irrational urge in many people.

Thus, having ascertained that Norwich is not home to a large Muslim population and that there are no specific problems with those who describe themselves as adherents of that faith in the city, is holding a march the best way to protest against the idiotic decision by the local council to ban a fringe Christian preacher from distributing leaflets? Perhaps it is. Then again, it might be better if the EDL were to get behind the Reform Section 5 Campaign instead. Whatever the merits or otherwise of the chosen course of action, expect a lot of people under the banner of We Are Norwich to be screaming ‘fascists!’ at the EDL today. It is only a matter of time before the reports start rolling in, with the press giving a platform only to the anti-EDL protesters. A live blog of the demo is being provided by Norwich Evening News.

M6 Terror Scare closes motorway

This morning The Daily Telegraph reported that a terror alert had resulted in the closure of part of the M6 Toll Toad following an alarmed call from a passenger on the Megabus service from Preston to London. It was claimed that another passenger was seen with a smoking liquid (it is safe to assume that this was not Heston Blumenthal with a canister of liquid nitrogen). The M6 Toll was therefore closed between junctions T3 and T4 in both directions at 08.20 this morning, whilst, reports Sky News, armed police arrived at the scene. Despite the massive disruption and considerable resources involved, it proved to be a false alarm with the cause being a passenger smoking an electronic cigarette!

Six arrested in London
This came on the same day that five men and a woman were arrested in a dawn terror swoop on a number of locations across London. Some of these were UK nationals. The London Islamist plotters are believed to have been preparing explosives for use in bomb-making, but it is not thought that their plans were connected to the forthcoming Olympics. Their alleged target(s) have not been disclosed.

Shamefully, one of the men arrested - Salahuddin al Britani - whose real name is Richard Dart, is an indigenous convert. As you can see from the video below, he speaks with the affected faux sub-Pakistani accent adopted by many converts, which lends his speech an unintentionally comical turn, perhaps appropriate for a man who was arrested in the part of London renowned for the golden age of British cinematic comedy - Ealing. Dart, originally from Dorset, featured in a documentary made by his brother Rob Leech entitled My Brother the Islamist which was shown last year, which also featured the touching concern of a Dorset mother for her son Ben who had converted to Islam having grown tired of heavy metal. For Maggie's sake, for she struck me as a worried and caring mother, I hope that Ben has given up on his Islamist idiocy, but unfortunately, I suspect that he has not grown out of it and remains trapped within Anjem Choudary's band of cultish followers, whatever name they may at present be bearing.

Today's arrests underscore that the threat from Islamist terrorism in this country is real and is not going away. Those who are protesting against the temporary installation of anti-aircraft missile batteries in East London are foolish indeed. The again, perhaps the latter can be excused for having overexposed themselves to the content of The Guardian and BBC broadcasts of all sorts, and thus ended up with heads full of irrationally naive twaddle.

Welsh Defence League to demonstrate against Ummah Rise?

Will the Welsh Defence League (WDL) be mounting a counterdemonstration to the Ummah Rise demonstration taking place in Cardiff on Saturday 10 July? Having taken a look at the WDL’s homepage, I’m afraid to say that it’s been hacked and covered in pro-Palestinian anti-Israeli messages as can be seen here. So, there’s no way of telling whether or not the WDL have anything planned, or if they have, how they hope to co-ordinate their effort.

This lack of information prompted me to take look at the EDL site to see if anything is in the offing or whether there might be a bit of cross-border solidarity, but I cannot locate anything indicating that the EDL will be making an excursion to Cardiff. This is a shame, as the WDL have only managed to attract small numbers of supporters to their demonstrations to date.

What is Ummah Rise? Well, it’s a rally “to defend the symbols of Islam”; yet another manifestation of the growing strength of our increasingly bold Islamist fifth column. The reality of the problem we have with Islamism in the UK has been underscored only today by a report produced by the Centre for Social Cohesion revealing that 69% of the 124 convicted for Islamic terrorist offences over the past decade have been UK passport holders. It described them as “holding British nationality”, but there is nothing British about such people, as Britons are by definition not Muslims. Of course, most of the convicted are descended from the Muslim immigrant population and its progeny, but not all Islamists are such: some are converts.

Those who convert betray not only their people, but also wider Western culture and civilisation, as well as global norms of decency. For someone to actively embrace Islam when they have the choice to reject it indicates that the individual in question is either mentally ill or evil. Such people should be given the opportunity to recant, and if this is rejected, they should be stripped of their citizenship and ejected from the country. Henceforth they should be permanently barred from setting foot within our jurisdiction. Islam is a totalitarian ideology and culture, not a race.

Still, the largest group of those convicted were Pakistani by descent (some 28%) followed by Somalis clocking in with 6%. The full figures quoted by the Telegraph are worth a look. So far as I could discern, no indigenous converts to Islam figured amongst those convicted, but it is unclear as to whether there were none or the paper chose not to disclose details relating to such cases. Remember, there was one incident involving 22-year old Nicky Reilly from Plymouth who converted to Islam and accidentally blew himself up in 2008 when his backpack detonated in the toilet of the Exeter restaurant to which he was trying to bring carnage. Thankfully, he harmed nobody other than himself and he is now serving time in Broadmoor following the 18-year sentence he received in January 2009. He is variously reported as suffering from schizophrenia, Asperger’s Syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s a pity that the courts didn’t recognise the most serious mental illness from which he was suffering: belief in Islamic dogma.

So, who will turn up to the Ummah Rise demonstration? Will we see another outing for Muslims Against the Crusades, joined perhaps once again by the ‘newly formed’ and highly vocal Islamist wing of Unite Against Fascism (sic)? Respect perhaps?

Come on WDL and EDL, don’t let us down! Peacefully tell these people that their totalitarian fascistic ideology is not welcome in Cardiff or anywhere else in Wales. Give a warm “croeso” to the English who choose to stand alongside their Welsh cousins in saying “no to Islamisation!”
